filmstrip view disabled

When i click on "filmstrip" view [from any menu] it lines up thumbnails
horizontally like it should but its at the top of the window where the
preview window should be.
I recently found the "shift+thumbnailclick" function. I thought that might
be the prob so I restored all views to normal thumbs.

[Im using xp sp2]

It seems no one else has this problem and after seeing the other posts like
mine I thought I should clarify :
I have no view of the filmstrip window, the viewing options ARE there
however the preview template is gone. It may have been sometime after i first
initiated "shift" plus "thumbnail" view ( this hides the file names ) that
this started, there are other possibilities but this sems the most likely.

SUCCESS!! i found out "Windows and Fax Viewer" became unregistered for
unknown reasons and
you can re-reg it by

Click Start /Click Run / Paste:" regsvr32 shimgvw.dll "Click OK
You should see a window pop up saying "DLLRegisterServer in Shimgvw.dll
succeesed"

Ive had problems with file associations recently and Internet Explorer is
the last on my to do list, anyone know why defaults wont stick in "program
access and defaults"?

[thanks to " Wesley Vogel " for his post on unrelated WMF Patch Problem]
