File pci.sys caused an unexpected error (32768) at line 5882

I have upgraded to a new motherboard (Boistar - M7NCD - nVIDIA nFORCE2). I have also a new CPU (AMD Athlon XP2800+ / 512K Cache / 333MHz FSB / Socket A Barton Core).

I have reassembled all the same components I had with the last system. HDD, CD-ROM, DVD ROM, Floppy, Modem, SCSI card, NIC, Sound Card, Video Card, Fans.

I have XP Pro loaded to HDD. When the system starts up it goes to the screen for selection of boot modes. (Safe Mode boot, Boot to Network, Boot to command, last known good, Boot normally). I have tried all and nothing worked. I then went to reload XP Pro and as the install was going through I get the following error from the XP install CD

‘File pci.sys caused an unexpected error (32768) at line 5882 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\setup.c.â€

‘Press enter to continue.â€

Can anyone offer some thoughts or a solution

This may be an indication that you have a bad CD. Check with Microsoft
Support for a fix.
