Far Cry on Mobility Radeon 9800

Hi all..

I just got a new laptop, P4 3.2HT, 1Gb RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 9800 256mb.

My question is that I've installed Far Cry, put the 1.1 patch on, but i
am unable to select the different rendering modes, it just says
unsupported!!.

I've got the latest drivers installed, as well as DX9c...

Is this just disabled on the Mobility Radeon?

I also have an Athlon XP 2400+ (o/c to 3200+) with 1Gb RAM, Connect3D
Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb with latest drivers, DX9c, and that works.

Looking round the web hasn't revealed much, so I'm open to suggestions.

The drivers will be different on your laptop to the latest catalyst drivers!
Use Mobile mod 4 to convert the latest Catalyst drivers so you can use them
on your laptop! You should then be able to select the render type.

Ive tried the latest Omega drivers, which has caused no end of problems,
bluescreens, system hangs for no apparent reason.

I've tried rolling back to the dell version of the drivers, but the
crashes have remained.

I think I've finally managed to fix it (this laptop is like 3 days old),
but after all that, even using the omega drivers, the different render
modes are unsupported.

So apart from scratching my head, I'm out of idea's.....
