if there is indeed a cpu in question here. neither - your machine should
crank if you have >= 2.0 ghz cpu

maybe your sound device is the choker ?

besides if this is what you have to work with - whats the prob ? you gonna
arrive there in the past tense..

Maybe you should post with results and ask "what happened ?"

just kidding. there is nothing bleeding edge out there in the wings waiting
to be rushed to market right now anyway.

unless you go over to ATI and pick up one of those baseball caps and a
9800pro 256megger. $299

what's the CPU?, you only state what mobo u have and how much RAM u have.

read the title...

I have an identical configuration, and I am playing in 1600x1200 on my 20"
TFT.
OCing the gfx card gives me higher frame rates = GPU is bottleneck...

I have a similar system as I am running a NF7-S (2.0), 1 gig Ram (PC3500),
XP2700 @ 2315MHZ, 9800 PRO - stock speed and Fry Cry runs great. I guess
you should check and see if you have the latest ATI drivers and the latest
Nvidia platform drivers and the latest FAR Cry patch.

Yes, no AA and no AF, but all settings in Far Cry at highest.

I can't even play FarCry at 1024x768 with everything cranked up without
FSAA. I do have Anistropic at its max. I have an Athlon 2200+ XP with
1 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 AIW Pro (128 MB; Catalyst driver v4.5) and
Windows XP Professional SP1 (all updates). :(

i plan to get this mobo and i would apreciet if some add any
experience bad or good whit it

i got an xp2600 and ddr333 mem.

You're right of course. I'm running it at 1024x768 w/2xFSAA (medium is 2x
right?) and 4xAF. My Barton is running at 203*11.5 = 2334 and I've got a Radeon
Pro 9800 128MB on an NF7s v2.0 w/1 gig of PC3200.
It ultimately depends on resolution and FSAA level, doesn't it?

I was running an xp3200/9800pro at those settings but found that I had to
drop to keep my framerate decent. One thing that helps is setting AF to
performance in the drivers, there isnt any discernable difference in IQ.
Some people say far cry runs great at high settings but thats subjective.
My brother, who has identical specs as mine, said his ran great at higher
settings than above. When I watched him play I saw terrible slow downs, and
he was playing worse than usual. When I enable showing framerate he was
dropping into the 20's. Before that he swore up and down that it ran
smooth; it does seem to run smoother than usual at low framerates but I
still won't play below 40 fps, and that is refering to low points, not what
I see when running through a corridor.
SO when I see all these people "running smooth as silk" with similar spec
machines to mine I don't pay much attention, i know my machine is running
fine and I see how it is handling far cry with different drivers, 3.10 and
up...
cheers,

Mike

Yes... it is interesting to read or hear what people CONSIDER
"Smooth"... so you have people playing games on GF4-MXs or 9600 or
lower ATI cards and thing they are getting AWSOME performance...

In a multiplayer battle, they are slaughtered because they don't have
the details or smooth action of others.

I'd say that FCry runs very smooth on my 9800Pro... but UT2004 is much
smoother.... but both run better on my 9800Pro than my 5900 card on
another system. But having 1GB RAM helps too.

Remember: In the USA - it is dangeroud to draw or write about Heir Bush in a negative way. The police or SS are called, people threaten to kill you. (What country is this again?)

- 15yr old boy in Washington was disciplined for drawing such images.
- White House blows cover of an undercover agent because her husband said there were no WMD (before the USA started the war) - her job was finding terrorist. (This makes sense?)
God bless the land of the free. Where you can burn the Constitution... Ashcroft does it every day.

Your machine runs like it does at the first time you've buy it so i
mean that you've never try to get performance out of yours. Or you
dont have the nf2 technologies witch means that you've lost the half
of game play... That game is build to be play at 1024x768x32 6x-16x...
whit no problem. Plus if you've mabage to get at the half of the game
or more in a week or to that's means that you have good frame rate and
the ability to say that it runs smooooooth !

what's your mobo?

W

Wblane

I've never tried. I'm using Catalyst 4.3 as well. 4xFSAA would probably be too
much for Far Cry and a 9800 Pro 128MB though.
If you force 4x FSAA in the drivers, by how much does the framerate drop?
