When I bought my new HP Pavilion Pentium 4 it included
Microsoft XP Home edition. I missed the renewal date and
now cannot utilizie the software as the subscription has
recently expired. How can I get a copy to reinstall it?
When the computer was purchased it Did Not come with a
CD install disk. What can I do to retreive the XP
software?
.
Sounds like you want to try the software again. What
software are you talking about?Norton,McAfee,what?Your
H/P probably has your copy on a partition on the
harddrive.you can access this by turning off your
computer, then turn it on,while pumping the F10 key
repeatedly untill the recovery screen pops up.you'll have
2 options,1:recovery,(recover all the software that was
loaded on your computer when you bought it,this leaves
your files intact that you have loaded,I do think you'll
loose saved E-Mails in outlook express too ,if you use
outlook it changes all settings back to new
IE:desktop, screensaver. Most software will be reset so you
can try 'em again....the cheapskate way IE:Free 6 months
of Norton, just use a different name free msworks use a
different name.)2:destructive restore CAUTION YOU WILL
LOOSE ALL THINGS WITH THIS ONE IE:
pictures,music,updates,Emails,everything.Puts it back
like the day it came out of the box. This is like doing a
clean install.H/P does have youe XP disc,if you call them
give them your serial # for a SMALL fee they'll send it
to you.In the United States, call 208-323-2551.....Last
time I ordered an XP disc from H/P this was the #.The
only time you should need it would be if your harddrive
crashes, and you put a new one in.Unless your like me and
buy a second harddrive, and copy everything to it,take it
out and put it up in the closet just incase I need it
later,updating it once a month.Just my 2 cents.
