Exchange Address Book unable to log onto Exchange Server

John Haley

I have a WIN 200 Pro machine, Just had a OS repair done on
it and now it will not allow me to set up the user in
Microsoft Outlook 2000.
When I attempt to change the user name in the properties
screen for the Exchange Server it displays the following
error
"Microsoft Exchange Address Book was unable to log on to
the Microsoft Exchange Server computer"

The user of this machine can log on to the server from
another machine and change the Outlook properties and read
their mail. So therefore they are valid users and the
server recognises them and their mail is in tact.

Did you try deleting the mail profile and set up a new one? That's the first
thing I'd do...

Tried that still no joy. Also reinstalled Outlook as a
first time install - still no joy

Have you tried to see if anyone else can set up a profile for Exchange on
this computer & use it?

No I have tried that. It just keeps coming back at me with
the same problem. I can change the name but it will not
resolve the name, even though that person can log onto the
network from this machine and the right network files are
made available according to their login.

Frankly, if it's just this one computer, and you can't figure out what's
different about its config (DNS?) I'd wipe & reinstall it.
