Excel WeekNum value doesn't match PDAs for 2005

Except for the first and last weeks of the year, the Excel
WeekNum value have matched the week number that PDAs show
for the past several years and for 2006 and beyond.
However, in 2005 the WeekNum value calculated by Excel is
one week off all year long from what PDAs indicate. Does
Excel have a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Hi Dave
probably both use different definitions for weeknums (ISO, etc.). So
both are correct, they have just defined the starting week differently.

Excel doesn't use the International Standard week numbers (where weeks begin
on Mondays and week 1 is the first week where 4 or more days are in the
specified year), it uses Microsoft(?) week numbers, where weeks begin on
Sundays or Mondays and week 1 is the week containing January 1st.

Thanks for the response, Stephen. Looks like there is no
solution to get Excel and PDAs to match. Since we use the
Excel workweeks for our business needs, I'll have to tell
the rest of the folks that for 2005 their PDAs will not
give them the same results.

Thanks for the quick response, Frank. Looks like I'm up a
creek without a paddle for 2005. I'll have to tell the
managers to ignore their PDA dates for 2005 since we are
using the Excel dates as our source for workweek numbers.
