Excel rowspan limit

I have a larget HTML table I read into Excel. This table contains a large
number of rowpans. If I have more than 65530 separate rowspans in Excel than
all remaining rowspans do not work. If you make a table containing 65532 of
the line below the error shows up at row 131060.

<tr><td rowspan=â€2â€>a</td><td>b</td></tr><tr><td>c</td></tr>

have you ever found an answer to this? I've been searching around for the past couple weeks and so far I've only found your unanswered question in multiple forums...
