Excel crashing when close box is pressed

Arka Roy

I am running Office 2007, on Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Excel crashes almost without fail when I try to close a document with using
the close box (top right). I mean Close Window, to close the document, not
the one to close Excel itself.

It doesn't crash when I close my doc using the Close menu item in the Office
Button.

Does anyone else get this? Has there been a patch or a fix?

Thanks,
AR

I seem to have resolved it by disabling the COM Add-in "Send to Bluetooth":
c:\windows\system32\btsendto_office.dll

My machine is a brand-new Dell Latitude E6500. Excel 2007 was working fine
on my old machine (a Hitachi Flora also running Win XP SP3). The old machine
doesn't have Bluetooth so I wondered if that was the difference. A very
lucky guess, it turns out.

How did you disabled the COM-addon. I can't disable it. It keeps saying
something HK_Machine blah blah when I try to uncheck it.

Same problem here. I don't even have "Send to Bluetooth" as an Add-in in my
Excel 2003. How to disable to "Send to Bluetooth" add-in or is there other
way to fix it?
I have this "close window" problem after I remove an Essbase Add-in.
Anything to do with it?

Thanks! Solved the "Excel crashing on Close or Exit" by removing the "Send to Bluetooth" COM AddIn.

Excel Options > Add-Ins > Manage COM Add-ins > GO > Select Add-in > Remove
