Excel adds extra double-quotes ?HELP?

Hi everyone !

When I copy a cell in a worksheet and try to paste it in anothe
program like notepad for example, excel adds extra double-quotes at th
start and at the end of my text.

Also, if my text had double-quotes in it before the copy, all thos
double-quotes are doubled in the pasted text. (In notepad)

Is there a way to avoid that behaviour ??

Thanx in advance for your help!

I've never seen excel & notepad do this.

What versions of excel and windows are you using?

Are you using the Windows Notepad program--or some other version of notepad?
(and you're sure it's notepad--not wordpad (but it didn't do it for me in
wordpad, either.)

And what's in that cell that you're copying?

Maybe someone else can try to verify/duplicate your results.

I used win98 and xl2002 and win98's notepad (and win98's wordpad, too) for my
testing.
