Excel 2007 Print Scaling not working

I have a wide excel data document and I want to print it on one page of 11 x
14 paper. (landscape)

In Excel 2003 this is not a problem. I go into page setup and set the
scaling to fit to one page wide by one page tall and it scales to fit exactly
as needed. No problem.

In Excel 2007 I do the same thing, set the scaling to fit to one page wide
by one page tall and it goes bonkers. Instead of consolidating the data onto
one page, it page breaks into 30 pages with bizaar margin settings I did not
choose, the font size stays at 100% on the print file itself, it is quite a
twilight zone experience to say the least.

I have found one work-around on this from a blog on the net. I was told to
go into c:\program files\microsoft office\office12 and delete EXCEL.EXE

Once I launch Excel again from the start menu (the shortcut from quick
launch will not work (if applicable) as it is pointing to the program just
deleted) - I will see Excel install and voila! no more issues with print
preview.

This should not be a permanent solution for this issue. Excel 2007
programmers need to come up with a fix that will permanently fix this issue,
otherwise, I foresee that I will have to delete and reinstall Excel 2007
every time I want to scale a print job to a reduced size.

Need some help here people. Thanks,

I am having the same issue and do agree that a solution needs to be
found.

Having the same issue, very frustrating. Hoping to see a response to this
thread from MS? Is there a simple work around?

Tom, Marc, & Stan:

If this is the same problem that I just ran into in Excel07, where the print
page size is blown down to the size of a postage stamp, and you can't access
the margins tab to correct it.

In my research, it appears to be a long-term MS Excel problem reaching back
at least 2 versions form 2007, 2003 and 2002 (at least). If these are
related problems going back that far, you would hope that MS programmers and
engineers would come up with a fix for it. It is very frustrating for it to
be working one moment and then boom.

While I cannot vouch for Stan's solution from the blog site, I was able to
fix the problem by shutting down everything, restarting the computer, and
then it all worked as it should when I reopened the reports.

I hope this helps you out.
