Excel 2003: Cannot access directory

I have a second hard drive where I store my files. The windows mapping
originally mapped it as drive "F". I have added a 2nd DVD burner recently
and now my second hard drive is mapped to "G". In my Excel 2003, under
Tools:Options, when I click the Save tab, it gives me an error "Cannot access
directory F:\data\excel". In fact, it happens when I click any of the tabs.
Since this is where I need to change the mapping I am stuck. Anyone know how
to change this outside of the application?

Far & away the easiest way to fix this, assuming you have the requisite OS
priviledges, would be to run (assuming Windows XP) the Computer Management
administrative tool to run Disk Management, then unmap the second DVD drive,
change the drive mapping for your second HD back to F:, then set the second
DVD drive mapping to G:. This also assumes you seldom if ever would open
files from the second DVD drive, and even when you did, it wouldn't matter
to any other software whether those files came from a drive mapped as G:
rather than as F:. IOW, your second HD's drive mapping matters, but your
second DVD drive's mapping doesn't, so change them accordingly.

A variation that I use (in Device Manager on my W98se box) is to fixed
assign my optical drives from Z down and let Windows assign the HD's from A
up. I then use a Letter Assigner Program (if need be) when I add a
HD/Partition.
