What is the position regarding Norton / Symantec products which are or
were installed on your computer?

Hi Gerry,

No reference to Norton/Symantec software in Control Pannel Add/Remove. I did
find and remove all Norton/Symantec entries from my registry. After a restart
the Event ID 7026 was still present. Any other suggestions would be
appreciated

It appears you have some leftover registry entries from a Norton uninstall.
If you have uninstalled Norton then from a cmd prompt type:

sc delete symtdi

If you haven't uninstalled Norton then your installation may be corrupt. You
may need to re-install it.

You might use Autoruns to see this phantom comes from.

You will need to consider careful how to remove it. It depends
entirely where the start up is to be removed.

Autoruns is a programme, which list everything starting and
where it starts from.Try downloading and installing:
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html

You can save the output of the Everything tab to a txt file.
Place the cursor on any item in the list and it gives a save
as option on the File drop down. Post a copy of suspect
entries giving details of the start location.

Use File, Find and search for "symtdi" without the quotes.

Hi Gerry & Kerry,

Your help is greatly appreciated. I found under Scheduled Task a reference
to Symantec and with removal the Event Code 7026 was gone.

Thanks.

Glad to hear it. Thanks for the update. That's a new one for me. I wouldn't
have thought of scheduled tasks.
