Event ID 5719 Netlogon Error

J

jondyke

Hi I have a bit of a problem with one of my 2000 servers.

When I logon to the domain from this server I get an Event
ID 5719 Netlogon error (plus a W32 time and browser
warning) claiming it can't see the DC.

I have taken it out and rejoined the domain and this all
appears to work (including resting the account from the
DC).

But still the same problem when trying to logon. I belive
it is using cached credentials as it takes about 20sec to
logon and some functionality is lost (MSMQ public queues
are not available).

I can ping the DC and I can do a successfull NSLOOKUP so I
don't think the problem is with the DNS side of the
networking.

Any suggestions or help on this would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheers

Jon

Hi Jon,

I hope you should be aware of Knowledge Base Article of Microsoft ,
they talk extensively on different error mesages and how to fix them. In
case if you come up with any Error msg , the Best bet online is the KB
articles ...!!

This link take you to Microsoft Support Link where u can find the KB link.
http://support.microsoft.com

This link will directly take you to the KB article search
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;KBHOWTO

I found the following links that talk about the Event ID 5719 Error

1. PRB: Netlogon Logs Event ID 5719 on a Domain Controller

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310339&Product=win20

2. Server Logs Netlogon Event 5719 When Starting on NT 4.0 Server :

Venkat.

Thanks,
With all due respect I wouldn't have come to the forum if
the answer was in the KB!! For most people the forum is a
last resort when the KB has failed.

In this case the KB (went through every related article)
proved pretty useless.

Cheers,

In that case: can you post the ipconfig/all from the server and one from a
client?
