Event ID 1058

Hello,
I am having a problem applying a GPO to only one computer.
Receiving the error 1058 but the reason group policy porcessing aborted was
because of: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
The only KB article that pertains to this error 314494 has been tried with
no luck and it does not exactly match the error message I am receiving.
The user in my situation is the actual domain user logging on, not NT
AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and (Access is denied) does not match logon failure.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Aaron

See if this helps:

On the XP Machine go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Advanced Tab
Manage Passwords
Remove All.
Log out and back in again.

You are the man David!!! Was XP using those cached credentials everytime she
was logging on? How do I prevent this in the future?

It could be the user was being logged on with cached credentials that were
stale. This is usually due to Fast Logon Optimization not being turned off
in a domain environment.

Do you know if Fast Logon Optimization has been turned off on the Windows XP
machines?

Yes,
Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon has been enabled
for the Windows XP machines.
