Error: This application requires a newer version of the MS .NET CF

I know that this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to
make use of the information provided. I have .NET CF 2.0 with SP2
installed on my PPC. And as far as I can tell, this is the latest
offering from MS. And just to be sure, I first installed version 2.0,
then SP1, then SP2. I even re-downloaded and re-installed SP2 when it
didn't work the first time, but I still can't get rid of this error.

This error appears with 2 programs, which makes unlikely that the
problem is in the programs themselves. furthermore, the size of the
SP2 download appears to be correct (37.5M), thus eliminating the
possibility that the download was incomplete. But the downloaded file
does not have a proper icon, just the generic icon of a white page
with the MS logo on it. And it has an .msi extension, which means it
is not executable in , so I can't even use it to re-install .NET but
always have to re-download it (unless there is something I am
missing).

Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

This error can also occur when your application references SQL Server Mobile
and this has not been installed. Check you have all the pre-requisites, not
just the framework itself.

I've had this problem too, when I try to debug my first Windows Mobile
5 application via VS2005, the emulator returns the same imformations.

How can I solve this problem?
