hello:
i'm getting an error message like this: Only part of the read process
memory or write process memory request completed the error of memory request
wont let me use programs that worked just fine a week before
i've tried system restore but tells me that a change has been made to a
drive and won't go back (it says it was excluded from system restore but i
can't include it)

also i have a message when i log on that windows is looking for a 'nail'
file that doesn't exist

any ideas on how to get that fixed?

but what about the process memory problem?

Clean up your computer and the process memory problem may very well go
away. You should address the known issue (malware) - and it is a
critical one - first.

hi again:
i cleaned my pc but windows is still looking for the nail.exe that DOESN'T
EXIST
i found a WEBPROXY.EXE process that i can't terminate because it says that a
device attached to the system is not functioning.
i don't think thats the problem because in safe mode the problem is still
there without the process but i would like to know how to terminate it.
i'm thinking that maybe a program at startup is causing the problem but i
dont know how to see startup programs

PLEASE HELP THIS THING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!
Thanks in advance for your concern.

Your computer is not clean. The Aurora/Nail malware is particularly
nasty. You should run HijackThis and post your log at one of the HJT
forums below (*not* here, please):

Hi,

Navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

In the right pane, double click: Shell
It should only read: Explorer.exe

Nail adds: Explorer.exe C:WINDOWSNail.exe

Also clear your prefetch folder.

You haven't quoted any of the previous posts indicating what the problem
is or any of the offered solutions so it's not possible to offer any
news suggestions.

I too have not responded to the question because my crystal ball is in the
shop. If you would like to post giving some clues as to what you are
asking, you might get an answer.

HI:
my problem is this->every time i try to open some programs an error appears
that says this "error: only part of the read process memory or write process
memory request completed" this has been happening for a month now; people
have told me it may be the nail/aurora malware (because windows tried to open
it at startup) so i cleaned my pc with help of hijack this! and people of
spywarewarrior but the problem is still there so something else is causing it
but i cant figure out what is that. i've run virus scans but no virus is
found (maybe it was caused by a virus and was removed) that same problem
prevents me from uninstalling programs because the uninstaller won't run if

you need detailed info to know what could be causing this please tell me
waht you need and how to get the information.

thanks for your concern

Thanks, that helped. I can't be of much help because I'm not familiar with
that problem, but perhaps someone will weigh in now. You might also try a
virus scan in safe mode and see if that finds anything.

Backup up important data. Try a repair installation first:
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

If that doesn't work do a clean installation:
