Error message upon start-up ... "FrontPage needs to close"

Geoff

Hello,
Any tips would be excellent.

I have FrontPage 2002. I have several FrontPage projects
I am working on, all saved under different names. When I
go into each FrontPage project to make changes, they all
work fine, except for one (and this one, I have spend
days working on, so simply can't just start over).
Everytime I try and update in this one, I get the
generic, "Microsoft FrontPage has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." I am not sure why my other FrontPage
projects update just fine, and it is only this one. But,
I have performed the following steps and it has not
helped at all - I still get the same error message when I
try and update this one particular application:
- Restarted computer
- Removed FrontPage 2002 from my P.C.
- Reinstalled FrontPage 2002
- Rebooted after all of the above

Any tips on getting this one FrontPage application to
work again without the error message would be great.

Thanks!

Geoff

Have you browsed the different web folders
using Windows Explorer and checked for anything
out of the ordinary in the one that malfunctions.

Are there any unique scripts ( javascript or vbs )
in the "bad one"
Does it use an external css??
Have you set the default css editor to notepad??

I have seen malformed css ( contained in a page )
cause this.

Refer to your event log and you should be able to identify the issue. Trying to identify the issue without utilizing log error codes is a no win situation. Once you get the error code you can search the Microsoft Knowledge Base and it will give you a clearer understanding of what may be causing the issue. Hope this helps.

Find and delete all FP Temp Files and any *.web files before you reopen FP
