Error mesage 452

My distribution lists have returned this error message - 452 Too many recipients in message - hasn't happened before. My lists (x 2) are approx 500 address each. Do I have to keep them below this figure? If so what is the maximum address you can have in a distribution list
Any help gretaly appreciated as i can't find any in the Help files...

That error message is coming from your outgoing server. You'll need to
contact your ISP to find out how many recipients you can send to in a given
message.
