Windows XP Error code 0x800ccc90

Does anyone know what this error code is and how I conteract it? I have a number of error codes fo thsi type coming up when I am in Outlook and I am trying to send/recieve emails.
 
Cause Section
The TCP/IP settings are corrupted.

0x800CCC0D CANT_FIND_HOST
0x800CCC0E FAILED_TO_CONNECT
0x800CCC90 POP3_RESPONSE_ERROR

symptoms
You cannot sign in.
The sign-in screen loops.
A "Looping Sicily" unending loop occurs (Post Office Protocol 3 [POP3] e-mail account).
You receive the following error message:
This way to the best of the Internet
You cannot send e-mail.
You cannot receive e-mail.
You receive the following error messages when you try to send or receive e-mail or when you start Microsoft Outlook

Click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Network and Dialup Connections.
Right-click the local area connection, and then click Properties.
Note There may be more than one local area connection depending on the number of network cards that are installed in the system. Choose the connection that is active.
Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Uninstall
Click Yes, and then click on Yes again when you are prompted to restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, double-click Network and Dialup Connections.
Right-click the local area connection, and then click Properties.
Click Install, click Protocol, and then click Add.
In the list, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click OK, and then click Close.
