Error 1907 on Office Enterprise 2007 Installation

I get the following error message during the installation of Office
Enterprise 2007 on a Vista Home Premium 32 bit, SP 1, Athlon 64 X2 6400,
Mirrored 320 GB, 2 GB RAM/Nvidia 8600.

"Error 1907: Font could not registered. Ensure you have permission to
install this font and the font is supported."

The error message allows for retry, ignore and abort. Retry and Ignore do
nothing; abort rolls back the installation.

Any suggestions? I note that others have had to disable all non-microsoft
programs running - seems like an awfully company-centric solution to me.
