error 1719 and msiexec.exe error

hi there,
the problem is i recently downloaded msn messenger 6.0
beta . and i tried to install it on my pc but it didnt
work and my windows started acting strange. whenever i
open any office document whether its word, excel, front
page or anything it gives the error "msiexec.exe has
generated errors and it willl be shutdown" and just after
that an error 1719 appears . im soo confused ,i just dont
know what should i do. i reallly need help . please help me

Hello,
Please try running the following on the command line:

regsvr32 \winnt\system32\msiexec.exe

If for some reason any of the registration info is out of sync, this command
generally fixes it.

Just checking - regsvr32 on an executable? Maybe it should be on msi.dll instead?
