Enabled XP Firewall, now can not print to network printer

G

G Kroll

Discovered we had the blaster virus on one of our systems
at work, so followed the MS page to resolve this issue.

First step was to enable the built-in firewall XP has.
Ever since, been unable to print, or browse, to the
network printer. It is IP enabled, and direct off the hub.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The XP Firewall is NOT designed for use with PCs on a LAN. If you want a
firewall suitable for use on a LAN (and don't want to pay anything) then use
ZoneAlarm from www.zonelabs.com

I am however extremely surprised that the company you work for has no
hardware firewall... such as a router! (Actually, I'm shocked!) Basic
security issues on a business network demand a hardware firewall, configured
correctly.
