Emptying Deleted Folder

My deleted folder has over 4000 emails in it, and 400 of
them were not opened. I cannot open the folder, and when
I select "empty deleted items", I get an error message
stating some of the email cannot be deleted, and kicks me
out. Thanks

If I were in your shoes, I'd start by selecting some of them and pressing
Shift-Delete I think that if you clean out some of the old items this way,
eventually Deleted Items should work again.

I am not able to even open the "deleted" folder, I have
no problem opening any other folder, just this one, I'm
wondering if it has something to do with the size of it.
Thanks

Doh! You said that in your original message and I glossed over it.

Possibly. What I'd do in your shoes (and I have done this before) is to
create a new PST, make it the default delivery location, and then move all
the folders except for Deleted Items from the old to the new. You can then
close the old and, when Outlook is stopped, delete the old PST. That
definitely will get rid of the deleted messages.
