Empty window in My Network Places

Linz

I can't get anything to show in My Network Places even though the network
works ok. It does have the menu on the left of this window though.
I can access the network via View Workgroup Computers and local area
connection via View Network Connections.
Internet access is ok too via network/router/modem.
All the other computers on this network can access this one computer ok too.

My only issue is nothing coming up in My Network Places.

XP Pro SP2.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Linz,

First, look for a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other
security component. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be
the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind.

Next, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, so we
can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for replying.

Problems fixed.

Went to Knowledge Base http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256248/en-us
This put me on the right track.
I deleted in the registry printers & shares folders in these locations.
(WorkgroupCrawler on mine)
Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\NetCrawl\Printers
Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\NetCrawl\Shares
Windows then repopulated My Network Places.

This may be a fix for others with the same problem.
