Empty error message when pressing "Send/Receive" in Windows Mail

Mail Dude

I am running Windows Mail (version 6.0.6000.16386) on Vista Home Premium.
I am able to send messages, and I am able to receive messages * when I select
for individual accounts *. But when I simply press "Send/Receive", I get an
error message ("Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks.
Please review the list of errors below for more details"). The thing is,
however, * there are no details under the "errors" tab *. (Under the "tasks"
tab, Windows Mail has checked for new messages on the e-mail accounts.)

Here are my e-mail account settings . Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you very much.

- ISP: Verizon
- "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing" box is checked.
- incoming server is a POP server
- incoming mail server: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net
- outgoing mail server: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
- "My server requires authentication" box is checked - uses same settings as
incoming mail server
- "Always connect to this account using:" box is not checked.
- outgoing mail (SMTP) server port number: 587
- incoming mail (SMTP) server port number: 110
(for both of these, the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" box
is not checked.)

Note

The verizon.net mail servers are those I was given and work on XP for
Outlook Express 6.0 - I have tried using pop.emailsrvr.com for the incoming
mail server and smtp.emailsrvr.com for the outgoing mail server, but these
cause even bigger probelms. I have also tried using outgoing mail (SMTP)
port number 25 - it doesn't work.

I don't know if your email account is Yahoo or Verizon but the servers
"incoming.yahoo.verizon.net" and "outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net" seem to
indicate a combination of the two. I doubt that the "verizon.net mail
servers are those" you were given. They are not correct for Verizon.

Verizon has been having problems in the past couple of days or so. The
problems are probably temporary and probably are not the cause of your
problem, but you might temporarily have problems that are at their end.

Your settings are correct for the Yahoo version of Verizon mail.
In my opinion, your symptom is due to interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Open Windows Mail->Tools->Accounts. Here delete all the "News accounts" (Some
Microsoft Communities Accounts) except your regular account... And there you
go!!!

You're amazing! I had tried everthing and nothing worked until I removed the
news accounts. I had already disabled my antivirus scanning so I knew that
wasn't the issue. Thanks so much!!
