I recently upgraded from 2007 to 2010. For some of my client support,
I keep a copy of 2003 on my machine. With 2007, I was able to set it
so either .xls or .xlsx would open with 2007 and I could open the ,xls
with 2003 by opening excel first then opening the file. I really did
that rarely.
Now, I cannot set seem to set .xls to open from windows explorer in
2010 as the default. I have tried folder options, I have tried open
with. I have gone through every settings option, Even when going
directly to the excel executable in the office 14 folder, it still
defaults back to the 2003.
