Editting Access 97 using Access 2000

Hi,

I have been developing a database using Access 97 over the past year,
unfortunately my machine gave up the ghost recently and had to be rebuilt,
my IT dept in the infinite wisdom decided to rebuilt with Windows and Office
2000. The majority of people that will be using the database will be on
Access 97 so if I do upgrade the database I'm guessing that this would
prevent them using the database? So my options are:-
1) Find a way to edit Access 97 Dbase with Access 2000
2) Put Access 97 over the top of Access 2000

Option 2 does not sound appealing and looks fraught with danger to me, so is
there any option 1's out there?

Cheers

Rod
