Which one would you pick?

Toshiba SD-R5112

or

NEC ND-1300A

I have the 1300a its great and one of the cheapest dual format drives
too. Super popular and the feedback from consumers is good.

I had a few doubts in the beginning because like the SONY and other
brands there were complaints about media compatiblity but like the
SONY , theyve had numerous firmware upgrades to fix things.

The Toshiba - it seems new so that could mean some media
incompatiblity before they smooth the problems out
or maybe not if they did their homework well and it could even mean a
wait for support from various software . Second , I dont see as much
feedback on it . Third - its not a dual format + and - drive.

It really depends on where you live - whats available - the drives and
type of disks and prices.

In the US the NEC 1300a you can get it for $111 now the Toshiba is
around $159 and its newer so less info and its not a dula format
drive. The Sony costs a bit more too often around the high $100s.

I've never had a moment's trouble with mine...It's the best damned +/-
burner in the known cosmiverse. I paid £175 inc VAT, and it's worth every
penny.

If the price were close It would be a toss up with many picking the
SONY I imagine because they were one of or maybe they were the first
dual format burners. They have a good rep. An article recently said
they were the No 1 in the recent year of sales for dvd burners after
various reboxers had problems like Cendyne which went bankrupt.
