Is it possible. The last time I tried this I broke my windows xp
install which resided on a different drive, I got a ntoskrnl.exe error. I
have since fixed my xp install but this seems to have broken my windows
xp64bit.

I have a gigabyte 939 board with an amd64-939, windows xp is installed on D,
and windows xp 64 bit is installed on C.. Used to dual boot other things
hence the C, and D :)..

The way you describe is basicly the way I did it with excepts it a different
drive lettering. Had Xp PRo install on D and Xp 64 on C. but it was
install Windows Pro files then Xp64.
with x-64 on D ind installing XP PRO on C , my X-64 boot loader got
corrupted.
installing XP PRO first on C then X64 on D it came out ok.

Certainly it is possible to dual boot with XP 64 bit, I imagine the majority
of the people out there running 64 bit are in fact dual booting. As always
keep in mind things may not always work as expected when dealing with a beta
product. The URL below has some basic info on installing 64 bit edition. At
this point if you are ready to take the plunge all you can really do is give
it a shot! Good luck!

I'd get a removable HD carrier and swap them out for each OS. My two bits there.
