Drive letters scrambled... how to move letters???

C

chuck

I have XP Pro.. just installed. I have 2 hard drives and
2 cd drives. My drives are:

c: = hard drive
d: = CD drive (want to be E: or F:)
e: = hard drive (want to be D:)
f: = Cd drive (Want to be E: or F:)

How can I make these things move their drive letters??

TIA

Hi, Chuck,

Click Start, right click My Computer, click Manage, expand Storage and click
Disk Management, expand to full screen so you can see all the options.
Click the 1st CD-ROM, then Action at the top.
Select All Tasks,
Set the CD drive letter higher up in the Alphabet, temporarily.
Do the same for the 2nd CD.
Click the 2nd Hard drive and change its drive letter.
Go back and reset the CD-ROM drive letters.

You can set the CD's a couple of letters higher and leave them there, so you
can make partition changes on the hard drives without interference.

Note: you cannot change the Boot partition (C:) drive letter without major
problems.
