Download Program Requirements

When I try to open a update download it says it needs Excel
or powerpoint to work which I do not have and don't wish to
buy these programs just to get download updates. How can I
get around this? I once saw a fix for this but that
download required Excel to open so I wouldn't need Excel
for downloads. I gave up at that point.
Don't know if this is the correct place for this as I
couldn't find on downloads.

If you do not want to buy these programs, you should be able to download the
corresponding readers/viewers.

Do not install the program updates since you do not have them!

What "update download" are you talking about?

Was trying to get windows hotfix 329623 which was required
by the sims making magic before I could install it. I have
experienced this problem before with other downloads but
gave up then. I had tried to download the viewers or
whatever they call them for both powerpoint and excel but
they both required excel to install after download.

I am not familiar with The Sims "Making Magic". If it is a Powerpoint
presentation (strange and unlikely), then the Powerpoint viewer will
enable you to see it. Excel is a spreadsheet program. I simply can't
imagine that any add-on for The Sims games would have anything to do
with Excel. The Sims has a very large and active user support base.
Either contact The Sims tech support or look for forums relating to The
Sims. This isn't a Microsoft and/or Windows XP issue.

Good luck,

Malke
