Downgrade from Pro to Home

Does anyone know of a way so that I can downgrade my
system from Windows XP Professional to Windows XP Home?

There is no downgrade path from Pro to Home.
A Clean Installation of Windows XP Home is necessary.

Clean Installation
Disconnect all peripherals (camera, printer, scanner, etc)
Disconnect any ZIP drive
Disconnect network/modem cable.
Go to BIOS and set CDROM as boot device before hard drive.
Insert Windows XP CD and reboot.
At "Press any key to boot to CDROM" quickly press a key and follow the
prompts for a Clean installation:

If you are installing using Windows XP Upgrade, insert qualifying
media in Step 4b.
Delete all partitions in step 5 if you desire to erase all data on the
hard drive.
Partitioning and formatting will be done automatically.
All data will be destroyed, back-up important data first.

Enable or install firewall BEFORE connecting network cable.

Install ALL Critical Windows Updates:
Start/All Programs/Windows Update

After you are finished, you will need to load the appropriate drivers.

If your computer was shipped with Windows XP, these procedures may or
may not apply.
Check your manual or contact the computer manufacturer for more
details.

Greetings --

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format
the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or
technique.

Simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Of course, you'll want to back up any important data before
starting.

And would you believe that, a few years ago, Compaq actually had,
on their support FAQ, the question "Your instructions say to press any
key to continue. What do I do if my keyboard doesn't have an 'Any'
key?" Sadly, they've since removed this classic.

Compaq FAQ: Where do I find the "Any" key on my keyboard? (FAQ2859)

The term "any key" does not refer to a particular key on the keyboard.
It simply means to strike any one of the keys on your keyboard or handheld screen.

I have a Dimension 8300. When I initially set it up I forgot to attach the
keyboard, and what was its protest upon boot...? Yep, you guessed it...

"No keyboard detected. Press F1 to continue or F2 to enter Setup".

Now, I really did think this was an urban myth!

Yuletide Blessings...
