Doughnut charts: angle of first slice

T

Tom

I would like to use a doughnut chart for multiple data series and vary
the angle of the first slice for each series. However, when I change
the angle for one series, Excel 2000 SP-3 changes it for *all* of the
series. Is there a way to specify different angles for each series?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

The starting angle is the same for all rings on an axis.
So you could, with the use of dummy series, use the secondary axis to
have 2 different starting angles.

As an aside, would it not be difficult to read the chart if all of the
rings started at different angles?

Cheers

Thanks, I will give it a try. I'm trying to use the doughnut chart to
represent two radars' differing coverage over 360 degrees. At the time
I couldn't think of an appropriate chart type for that, so settled on
giving doughnut a try. If this doesn't work, I'll try a pie chart
with different series' for:

1) Radar 1 only coverage
2) Radar 2 only coverage
3) Radar 1 and 2 coverage
4) No coverage

Thanks,
Tom

Tom -

No pun intended, how about a Radar type chart? Instead of just on/off or
good/bad, you could show a continuously varying response.

Also, you could start the donut chart with the first value at 0° (North)
for both. If one is good from 0 to 90° (East) and the other from 0 to
120, then the first category, Good, has a value of 90 for series 1
(radar installation 1) and 120 for series 2 (radar installation 2). Etc.
