Hi Peter,

Most 32-bit software (games, office software, etc.) will run just fine in
x64. The OS uses a compatibility mode for it. The only problems that arise
come from software that includes device drivers, such as some utility and
antiviral software, as those must be specifically written for 64-bit or they
won't function.

Just as on Windows XP x64, many 32bit applications would run on Windows
Vista x64. But I'm sure that some 32bit app that ran under XP x64, wouldn't
run under Vista x64. The reason is simple. See, there are some 32bit apps
that wouldn't run under Vista x32. Can't expect them to run under Vista x64,
can we?

Anyways, I think the biggest problem is hardware drivers. Many software
doesn't come with drivers for Vista x64. And Vista x64 doesn't even allow
3rd party driver if it is not digitally signed. That's why my old CMI8738
sound card doesn't work on Vista x64 even though there is a 3rd party driver
(written by an individual programmer) for Vista x64.
