Does Front Page keep me off the real front page?

Does Front Page, the way it's code is written, make it harder for google and
other spiders and thus lower my rank compared to shorter cleaner code?

Everyone has a biased opinion and I figure yours will be most objective in
this case. Like everyone, I want top search engine ranking of my website.
I want to be on the front page of search results, right below the paid
sponsors. I want to stop paying through the nose for key words, pay per
click, and SEO companies who buy links from authoritative sites and control
my website. I want to win by creating a useful website that people want to
revisit because it provides what they need and want without the annoyances of
many sites. At least I am going to try my best and see if I can beat my
curent site.

Front Page software seems the easist to learn especially after trying to
learn dreamweaver.

I have been given advice by multiple different people that Microsoft Front
Page is difficult for the spiders because of all the extra code and MS junk
so the spiders don't find or catch all the important stuff on my site for an
optimum rank. This is aside from all the other optimization factors and paid
subscriptions - here is want I want to know -

If you had 2 hypothetical identical web sites: one using Front Page and the
other using Dreamweaver would there be a difference in the eyes of the search
engines?

In a word..No...but it really depends on how you code the page..there is no
automatic penalty for using FrontPage.

No matter what HTML Editor you use to create sites, there will be
competition for anything that you do. Search Engine Optimization is more of
an art than a science..and it is a huge topic by itself..but it is
independant of the program you use. One of the best plaaces to learn more is

You certainly sound energized to be going down this path..one thing to keep
in mind though is it is never finite. You could reach #1 in Google some day
for a certain phrase..and fall way back the next time..there are simply no
100% solutions or guarantees.

from sites that say things like "submit your site to !,000's of Search
Engines for only $69.95"

I'll hazard a guess here and say that many or most of the people that gave
you that advice fall under one of two categories.

1. They have never used FrontPage
2. They simply keep passing on myths without really knowing.

Both FrontPage and Dreamweaver can produce code that is specific to the
program used. Whether that ever happens depends on features that you use.
FrontPage webbots for things like navigation bars..will produce specific
code for that.

No not really...but again it comes with more experince in knowing what does
and does not work well.
