Windows XP disappearing control panel

i am using windows xp and have spyware bot on my computer. a couple of days ago my control panel disappeared and i'm not sure how or why. i highjacked it and was wondering if someone could take a look and tell me what might of caused this. thanks.

Hello, you is in a mess with this one. :(


You only posted part of the HJT log ... need to see it all.

As far as I can see, you have NO antivirus, no Firewall & no anti-spyware software running at all.

SpywareBot.exe IS a nastie piece of crap that installs other spyware onto your PC.

i had this problem, along with explorer toolbar dissapering. a windows repair and plenty of scans later, i was back in business

so reformating looks like the best alternative? since i can't remove spywarebot because i have no control panel, what would you recommend doing? thanks.

Sorry to say, in this instance, yes, a reformat is in order ... and the first thing you should do after that, and before connecting to the Internet, is get a bloody decent antivirus program.

Also, make sure you get the latest Windows updates.

mostly good

i reformatted my computer and most everything is working fine now, the only thing is that my wireless card isn't being recognized, i can't even get an icon for a wireless connection when i have a router that is on and working. how do i go about getting it so my computer realizes it has a wireless card? thanks.
