I have not been able to play dvds on my computer since i bought it a year ago. Every time i put in a dvd, a window pops up saying "Create Overlay failed. Lower screen resolution and color depth and try again." I've tried both those things, I've troubleshooted to no end and talked to numerous customer support people without success. Here's where I think the problem might lie...
My direct x diagnostics box has two Display tabs that look exactly alike, Display 1 and 2. On the first tab, the DirectX features (Direct Draw, Direct 3D and AGP...) are all enabled, but I can only test to see if the first two work (which they do). On the Display 2 tab, the first two features (Direct Draw Acceleration and Direct 3D Acceleration) do not work when I test them, and the third one (AGP Acceleration) says Not Available, as opposed to Enabled. This seems strange, no? Two tabs, showing the exact same thing, but one works and one does not.
I can't think of anything else that might be causing the problem, so if anyone out there has a suggestion on how to fix this, or on how to get my Intervideo Win dvd player to work, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks
