Digital Camera Driver Problem

T

Ted

Hi, I really really need help on this one, I am currently
using windows XP, and I am trying to install the driver
to my digital camera, and a usb micro drive....
after I click the "install anyway" at the driver didn't
pass the logo test thing.. it starts to install, but
then, it gives me an error in the end saying that "the
driver is not intended for this platform"...
problem is, I have tried install from disk with XP
driver, and I have tried downloading the latest XP driver
from the products websites, and none works, the same
error keeps on coming back....
can anyone help??

my camera is fujifilm finepix f601z
please reply to my email if possible

Isn't this camera - the Fujifilm F601Z - a mass storage device? What that
means is, you just plug the camera into your computer and it shows up in
Explorer as a hard drive letter. If this happens for you, then you can treat
the camera as if you were using a hard drive.

Also, I might suggest you get a card reader as they are faster and less
cumbersome than having to take your camera and wasting its juice just to
view the pics. With a card reader (cheap these days) your card will show up
as a hard drive letter in Explorer and you can transfer the pics from there.

good luck!

Michael is right, but be sure your setting of your camera is set to be a Hard
Drive, do not set it to be a digital camera device. This is under your Dial
Settings. XP can recognize this device, you may or may not need to install the
driver from the camera. Try that, if it doesn't work then I would install the
software that comes with the camera.

Thanks for the help!
But, yes, I do know it is a mass storage device,
the thing is, it won't show up in my explorer.
as it is installing the driver for the storage device,
it'll say the driver is not intended for this platform.
I have used it before on a Win2K system, it worked fine,
but after I upgraded to XP, it just won't let me do it,
it'll regonize it as Fujifilm finepix F601, and it will
also regonize it as USB mass storage device, but it just
won't let me install the driver, it'll show up as an "!"
USB mass storage device in my device manager....

any ideas on this?? Thanks!!

I'd still recommend you remove anything Fujifilm on your computer:
1. disconnect the device from your computer
2. uninstall any and all software/drivers that have to do with the camera
3. reboot

Now, all you should have to do is plug the camera in. The camera will them
tell the computer what it is (PnP). then you might get a bubble message
saying its installing he device, or the device is installed. That's it. You
do not install anything. No drivers, nothing. Now is the camera in Explorer
as a drive letter? Is the device still banged out in DevMan?

If you are still having a problem - any of these possibilities could be
happening:
1. When you uninstalled the Fuji software - it didn't really do this - that
there are still references in the registry or files on your computer
interfering with device operation
2. Do you have the latest firmware version on the camera?

You might consider performing a clean install of XP and then seeing if your
camera will work (that way any bad configurations will be gone from the get
go). Presently, that's about all I can think of.

good luck!
