digicam as webcam?

Is it possible to use a digital camera (Minolta Dimage Z1) as
an occasional webcam with Messenger in XP Home?
If yes, do I need extra software to do it?
Or would it be easier just to get a purpose-built webcam?

Nice camera you have. My Fuji 3800 has an option in the setup menu to change from DSC to PC Cam. I haven't tried using it as one though. Look at all your setup options.
