different netbios domain name from AD domain

Someone recently old me that with my current NT domain name:


NTDOMAIN

if i don't name my AD domain:

NTDOMAIN.SLD.TLD

that i'll have problems. This is contrary to my experiences in the
lab. are they right ?

Netbios domain name can be different from your DNS (first part) domain
name. You will just have to know, that when you will be using SAM notation
when authenticating you will have to user one name and the another when you
will be using UPN's.

Disjoint names are fine and are supported. There is a KB article out there though for setting permissions on the
computer objects so that they can properly update their SPN and dNSHostName attributes however.

I have tens of thousands of machines and hundreds of thousands of users working daily in disjointed namespace domains.
