Difference between OE .dbx and .pst

I noticed that when I backed up my Outlook express .dbx files and reloaded
them onto my new pc, I did not have a LOT of the attachments. The attachment
names were still there in the email but they were greyed out and I could not
access them. However, my outlook (full version) PST files had every
attachement with EVERY email. Did I do something wrong when backing up my
outlook express (I just copied ALL of my backup files) or is Outlook express
just weaker in this regard 0 (i.e. a PST can grow to 400 meg but outlook
express dbx files dont get near that size despite attachments - so are they
just linking to the attachments)? Thanks for your help.

You are mix and matching to products.

dbx = Outlook Express
pst = Microsoft Outlook

As for the grayed out attachments in OE, try opening Outlook Express and
selecting Tools > Options > Security tab and uncheck the option dealing with
potentially dangerous attachments.
