DHCP and MinLogon

WES2009:

Trying to use MinLogon, but I'm finding that the DHCP service is bombing out
at startup time complaining that it can't find an authentication service. I
don't really see the connection between these two things since DHCP client
should be working at a fairly low level from a networking perspective. Trying
to start the service manually produces the same result.

Any ideas? I don't want to use WinLogin. There is nothing in the
documentation discussing such a dependency for DHCP.

I don't know about WES, but with XPE it is necessary to have the
print spooler in the image during FBA or DHCP client will not work.

It you don't have it in your image I might be worth a try.

Mmm, I was afraid you were going to say something like that. Why does DHCP
require this component to be installed? That doesn't really make much sense
to me.

Anyway, I tried it and sure enough it worked. That also fixed another
similar problem with the W32Time service not starting too.

However, I *really* don't want any MS Client networking active or bound to
any adapter.

I manually uninstalled MS client and TCP/IP V6, but that brought back the
same problems.

What do you recommend? Sure I can remove the binding of these protocols to
the adapter manually, but is there a better way to accomplish this? Can it be
done in Target Designer with some sort of FBA action?

I have a component that was given to me by a technical person at Kontron
that solves this problem nicely. He determined that the pre-requisites can
be satisfied by registry entries only and he created the needed component.
I was going to make this component available on xpefiles.com but that site
has been unavailable when I've tried to reach it a few times over the last
few months. Is there another community site where I can make it available?
In the meantime I will send the component to anyone who requests it by mail
to the following obfuscated e-mail account: "are-h-el-bee-h-en-jay" (each
sound between hyphens is a letter). Phonetically, the network is "yaa-who."

Mike just to clarify, I added the Print Spooler and that wasn't enough on
my image to get this working. I had to add the whole MS client. (#@$$!)
Which I really don't want.
