Desktop Icons appear to be highlighted

I don't understand why all my desktop icons appeared to be highlighted
in blue; as if they have all been selected. I don't recall doing
anything, but I tried shutting down the computer and it stills remain
the same. It is very annoying to look at because it is difficult for
me to tell which icon is selected with everything highlighted in blue.

Please help me out?!

Hi Faye,


Try the following:

Click on "Start" then "Control Panel" then find "System".

Once up, go to the tab called "Advanced" and in the "Performance" section,
click on the "Settings" button. Look through the list for the option "Use
drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". Put the tick in the box.
