"Delayed Write Failed" Error Message When You Write a File to a Server

Greg

One of my Windows XP machines is getting this
message "Delayed Write Failed". I found the Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article - 321733 and I have updated all of
the Windows Updates and I still have this problem. I
attempted to do the Reg Workaround and I dont have the
enablesecuritysignature key in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanma
nserver\Parameters as the article refers to. How do I fix
this problem?

Thanks,
Greg

Note: the article refers to the "Value" enablesecuritysignature
Not the "KEY" - There is a difference.
I checked the Registry on my XP Pro computer -
I went to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\Parameters
(meaning that I clicked on the Parameters key on the left hand side - the key pane)
Then on the right hand side - the value pane - I see enablesecuritysignature under the Name column -
(among other values)
Looks like this:

Name Type Data
enablesecuritysignature REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0)

If you now have found the enablesecuritysignature value, just double click on it and change its
value to 0 and click OK
Close the Registry Editor and Restart the computer.

If you truly are missing that value, I suggest you create it to look exactly as what I printed above.
This is how to accomplish that:

In the Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\Parameters
Click on the Parameters key on the left hand side - the key pane - so that "Parameters" is highlighted
Then at the top of Registry Editor, click on Edit - hover on New and then click on DWORD value
Type in the name: enablesecuritysignature and press <Enter>
Set the value to 0 and close Registry Editor
Restart the computer

I did not have the enablesecuritysignature key. I added
it as you said and still the problem exists.
