D: drive inaccessable in Vista but is accessable in safe mode

Hi guys,
I have just created a new partition (H:\) so i can dual boot XP and Vista i
took the free space from the D:\ drive using Norton Partition magic.
The installation went smoothly, except now everytime i try view the contents
of my D: drive, i get D:\ is not accessible. Access denied.

I tried changing the ownership of the d: drive, still no luck, i can also
access the d: drive from the XP boot.

I got into Vista safe mode and was able to view the contents of the d:
drive. I did notice, however, that the size of the d: drive looks to be the
size it was before i partitioned it! XP recognises the new size, yet vista
(safe mode) thinks it still has the old, larger size.

Sorry if my post seems all over the place, does anyone have any suggestions?

I had a simular problem. I did a dual boot install with XP but installed
Vista on a separate hard drive. After trying touse Vista for 2 days, I gave
up. I quick reformated the D: (Vista) drive. I could not access the drive
from the network. Vista also left directories and files on the C: (XP) drive
that I could not delete. I then did a full format, not quick, and it cleared
up all the problems I had including removing the directory and files from my
C: (XP) drive. I cannot fiqure this out and don't want to spend any more time
