Current security settings prohibit ActiveX controls??

Forgive the reposting - no responses.

A friend of mine is getting this message frequently when browsing the web
and trying to do Web Update. (Current security settings prohibit ActiveX
controls).

Altering the ActiveX controls in the internet Explorer options make no
difference whatsoever.

There is no definitive answer to it on the Microsoft Website, or any that I
can find in past postings in Google.

Can anybody help with this problem?

Hello,

You can try check in IE-Tools-Internet Options-Secutiry-Internet... You can
use Medium Security or Custom Level and then rearrange it to your needs...
be aware to have a current anti-virus and Firewall ON.

By default normal users cannot download Active-X controls (even if you change the IE security settings). You need to be a member of the Power users group or administrators group.
