Is the MS Fax COV file format documented anywhere ? We are an ISV and
would like to add support for this format to our product.

Thanks,

No. It's proprietary. By the way can you please explain your scenario that
requires you to understand this format?

We are an ISV that produces a programmable fax engine toolkit
(http://www.data-tech.com) and we would like to leverage the cover
page editor that ships with windows to create cover pages that our
toolkit could read. We reverse engineered the previous cpe format but
would prefer an easier method of implementing .COV support.

At the outset, we are interested in engaging with ISVs. We never had a need
that required opening of the COV before. Can we have more data on your use
scenarios?

Thank you,

Hello Manoj,

We are an ISV that produces a product called FaxMan SDK
(http://www.data-tech.com) which is a fax engine designed to used
programmatically from a developers applications. It supports standard
Class 1/2/2.0 fax modems and includes ActiveX, DLL and .NET
interfaces. Unlike Winfax for example it has no UI and is accessed
programmatically from a developers application so they can provide
seemless faxing to their app.

We are interested in being able to render .COV files so we can allow
developers to utilize the Win 2000/XP fax cover page editors to create
cover page files. Currently we support our own format and CPE files
(which we reverse engineered). We would prefer to have documentation
for the COV format to avoid the hassles of reverse engineering the
format.

If you have additional questions I would suggest you email me at
johnd[NOSPAM]@data-tech.com. I look forward to working with you on
this issue.

Thanks,
John Davis

Why

Why keep a simple coversheet format proprietary?
Why not just let people use their favorite tools for creation and then save it in a cov format?
