"Could not fetch new headers"

Recently I keep getting these annoying error while using
Outlook.

When I start Outlook 2002, I instantly get the following
error:
"A connection to the server could not be established.
mail.x.x.se is now in offline mode."

This is often followed by this error:
"Task Checking for new mail in subscribed folders on
mail.x.x.se.' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Could not
fetch new headers in the folder
(null) for Account mail.x.x.se. Error:Unable to connect to
the server.."

Only some users have this problem and it's very annoying.
No changes has been made to the mailserver. Could it be a
recent securitypatch that's causing these problems?

I take it you're using IMAP accounts? Do you have any anti-virus or
anti-spam software on the machines that are having this problem? If so, try
disabling/uninstalling it so see if it is causing the problem. If so,
contact the vendor of the software to see if there's an update.
