Copying previous user's profile over to new user

Is there a KB article that tells how to transfer a
previous user's profile and settings over to a new user?
Every time I set up a new user on a computer, something
screwy happens. For instance, a message comes up when
opening Word about a global template, NORMAL.DOT, already
being open as an add-in. I set up another account for her
and this problem does not occur there, nor does it occur
in the Administrator or former user's accounts. I could
just transfer her documents and settings over to this new
account I created for her, but I would like to not have to
set up Outlook again.

Thanks for your assistance,
Cathy

After creating the new user account and logging on at least once, then while
logged on as another user (with administrative rights) Control
Panel|System|User Profiles, select the oldprofile, Copy To, Browse to
%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\newprofile
Change "Permitted to use:" to "newprofile" OK

Thanks, Dave, but copy is not an option. I tried logging
on both as Administrator and another user with
administrator rights. ???

Spoke too soon. Now I'm getting this error message:

Windows cannot copy file C:\Documents and Settings\Liz
Carder\Application Data\Microsoft\Word to location
C:\Documents and Settings\Liz\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word. Contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - Access is denied.

Something is evidently locking up Word. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Cathy

Strange resolution: I renamed the file called Word and
the next time I tried to copy, I got the same error
message on a file called Templates. After I renamed it,
the process ran fine. Additionally, Word worked correctly
in the user profile I was having a problem with. Neither
the Word file nor the Templates file had an extension. Go
figure!
Thanks again.

Sounds like a permissions problem on the file and or directory.
